The windmill is the perfect place to “get off the world” for a bit. It was beautifully converted some years ago but has more recently had a new modern kitchen and shower room installed providing up-to-date comforts without any loss of the mill's greatest quality, its romance.
Set in meadows 30 metres behind the house, whose windows do not overlook it, the windmill is reached by a separate approach and has plenty of private space around it (maintained as closely mown grass) and natural shade. For aesthetic reasons there is no fence between this and the landscaped gardens around the house and these, and the rest of the grounds (1.7 hectares), are available for the use of guests including of course, the croquet court.
In spite of its apparent lack of windows, the interior of the mill is surprisingly light and bright, thanks to the two sets of double French windows on the ground floor once the two wooden doors fore and aft are opened up. This is furnished with two easy chairs and dining table and chairs.
A winding staircase leads to the landing, galley kitchen and shower room on the next floor, all of which is carpeted. The kitchen with a west facing window and good electric lighting is well designed and thoughtfully equipped with fridge, mini-oven, double electric hob, electric kettle, plentiful (matching) crockery, cooking utensils and knives which cut! Next door is the tiny but attractive shower room with wash basin and loo. A further little staircase leads to the light, airy, pretty bedroom furnished with double bed, wardrobe, shelves/dressing table, chair, bedside tables and lamps and bedside rugs. This room has one small and one large window, which have lovely views.
Outside are a garden table and chairs, two lounging chairs and a really efficient barbecue.
